Of my two handicaps, being female put many more obstacles in my path than being black.
When your parent is a public idol, you never really have a chance to lay that parent to rest.

And understandably so, that when you're in legal jeopardy, you really cannot put yourself in a position to open yourself up to the media.
If you have overcome your inclination and not been overcome by it, you have reason to rejoice.
Once you grow past Mommy and Daddy coming running when you're hurt, you're really on your own. You're alone, and there's no one to help you.
I'm fascinated by how you'll change your position so many times over a lifetime, but really what you're doing is occupying a series of positions on a landscape.
