When you work in television, it's an isolating experience. You rarely ever get to watch it with an audience.
There really isn't a story that you can't tell inside of it. It's very much a clearinghouse for anything that goes on in the world. So you're not at all limited.
I don't worry anymore about where's the big hangout Tuesday night, Friday. Couldn't tell you and no one comes to me for advice anymore in those areas anymore, so real boring I would say.
You become so encapsulated in this world of being a star. People listen to what you say, you have this voice, it becomes unreal and you become far removed from the people you came from.
Anyone with a show on T.V. will tell you it's backbreaking work. And if you have a big personality, which I have, and you're a perfectionist, there's going to be head-butting.
You can watch any episode you want and have a compelling story being told.
I've got some advice for the young: If you've got anything you really want to do, don't wait until you're 93.
You can't really tell what the audience wants but you can tell what will keep everybodies attention in the same place.
It's important to find characters that share sympathy with a young audience, not just in the story but their role in the world.
