Over the past several years, I've been more in a managerial role.
As an actor, you always want to find a piece of who you are in every role you take on.
I always individuate myself from other writers who say they would die if they couldn't write. For me, I'd die if I couldn't read.
I'll always struggle over saying I'm a writer, even if I won the Booker Prize.
After two years in the songwriting world, I wrote 'All About That Bass.' L.A. Reid heard it and signed me as an artist.
'Love and Terror on the Howling Plains of Nowhere' took me six years to write.
I would love to have a song that I wrote by myself to win a 'Song of the Year' award.
