It's way easier to write for other people. Yourself isn't in it. When you write for yourself, you overthink, and you become paranoid. When you write for others, it isn't about you.
There's a lot of young authors out there, and people do seem to forget: in order to write well, you do need to have some experience.
People want to hear your stories about these wonderful experiences you have, and that's what press tours are for.
You can spend the rest of your life trying to figure out what other people expect from you, or you can make a decision to let that all go.
You can safely assume that you've created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.
You cannot live on other people's promises, but if you promise others enough, you can live on your own.
As an artist, as an actor, as a writer, you have to use what's personal to you. You have to be personal about your work; otherwise, it doesn't ring true.
You've got to make an effort on your own. Some people don't even try.
If you got something you don't want other people to know, keep it in your pocket.
