The audience only pays attention as long as you know where you are going.
And the goal really is to make the audience laugh, to bring them some joy.
I like cinema audiences. I respect them, and I talk to them just like I would anybody I know.
I listen to the audience and try and bounce with them. All audiences are different. But they are all homo sapiens.
I still don't know anything about drugs, or who takes them, or what happens.
Any audience that gets a laugh out of me gets it while I'm facing them.
Now, when I started my theater, the modus operandi was having the actors stare right into the audience.
A lot of actors talk about doing their homework, but very few of them do it.
I don't worry about whether anyone knows anything about art.
