I know my life story sounds too extraordinary to be true.
After coming out as gay, I soon felt a lot more comfortable in my life, moment to moment.
The bands that were big in '77, like the Clash and the Sex Pistols and Talking Heads, I got into them in the early '80s. And it changed my life. It got into my DNA.
You've got to let it go and say it was the best I could do at that time and place in my life. You hope that the thing you're doing next is a little bit better.
Acting isn't the be-all end-all. There are a lot of other things in my life that will bring me joy if I didn't act anymore.
I didn't choose the fact that I was gay, but I did choose whether to live my life as a gay woman-that was the terrifying thing for me. Especially being a gay actress.
I've only read two books in my life: Baseball Sparkplug and Love Story.
Health-wise, I couldn't have said what my life expectancy would've been if I'd just carried on doing solid blocks of stand-up.
Becoming a mother was the single defining event of my life. It felt like the whole world shifted.
