You look at Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Bob Seger. All they ever wanted to do was go out there and entertain, and I'm the same way.
I wanted everybody to like me. I thought I was one shuck and jive away in every direction.
We're all the same. We all want the same thing in life. Everybody going around like ants and we all want the same thing. And it's not one queen. It's not one queen with the wings.
I want to put out music I really believe in, and when I felt that was threatened, I lashed out at everybody.
Everybody wants to shine a little bit, even a wallflower.
My goal is to be the best TV presenter, the best entertainer, the best singer. I still want to be the best dancer. I want to be the best at everything I do.
I started working with Bob in 1965. We did go through a lot of changes from 65 to 74, a lot of changes. By 1974, everything had straightened itself out.
Everybody sets out to do something, and everybody does something, but no one does what he sets out to do.
I just didn't believe I was like everybody else. I thought I was unique.
