I'm not really one of those people who's always out. I like being at home.
People always say, 'Who is your audience?' and I could never put a finger on it - and I wouldn't want to put a finger on it.
You can try to reach an audience, but you just write what comes out of you and you just hope that it is accepted. You do not write specifically to a generation.
I always feel that most people out there who aren't sure if the gym is really for them aren't prepared to pay and find out.
We have to reach out to younger audiences. They need to see how they can see themselves as black women.
The audiences are there as a result of my history with the band but also as a result of my being able to reach people with a tune.
And the goal really is to make the audience laugh, to bring them some joy.
Theater has always been much more fun. You get a laugh, and it's really encouraging.
I really, really loved 'Preacher.' I can't wait to go back. It's one of the best times I've had filming.
