I basically never believed that I was a commercial actor. Just because of the outcome of many auditions over time. No one hired me.
I know that, as a comedian, I've made great strides because I've worked as hard as a person can work at being at least wildly amusing.
The question for me was, could TV actually teach? I knew it could, because I knew 3-year-olds who sang beer commercials!
Bands like Culture Club and artists like me, you tend to concentrate on the live arena because that's where you can be your most authentic. That's where you have the most power.
We kept a broad audience, and we didn't make fun of people who had necessarily made mistakes in their life and burned them to the ground. We made fun of a commercial or a movie or ourselves.
Having that amount of nominations makes me a little nervous, because you feel that the bar is really high, the expectations are really high, but it also feels great.
Commercial jobs are pretty easily adjustable because they only take a few hours to complete, which is one of the reasons they are a Godsend to the actor.
Going to Peru is, well, if you ever have an opportunity in your life to go there, you should do it because it is absolutely mind boggling.
So yes, I hope to act in other people's movies, big and small, because that's how I make my living, really.
