I'm writing for entertainment. I like people to reach the end and feel they got their money's worth.
Write the kind of story you would like to read. People will give you all sorts of advice about writing, but if you are not writing something you like, no one else will like it either.
I'll have to get people to write songs for me right now until my own writing comes around.
I want people to notice my writing abilities are real and that I'm not just stuck in one situation.
It's funny, when I'm not on the road or doing stuff with Bad Company - or whatever- I've always written songs galore... a lot of stuff people don't even hear.
Read the kinds of things you want to write; read the kinds of things you would never write. Learn something from every writer you read.
I was inspired by lots of people, certainly in acting and in writing and stuff, but I never wanted to be somebody else.
When I sit down to write, I don't have any real goals except to follow one good sentence with another... I'm not the kind of writer who has a map.
When my writing really started to take off was when I made a decision that I would write only what I wanted to write, and if 10 people wanted to hear it, that's fine.
