In theater, the wellspring of the character comes from the doing of it, like a trial by fire, but in front of an audience.
'Moonlight' isn't an issue film. It's not about addiction, it's not about sexuality, it's not about identity. It's about all these different layers, because they are all a part of the character.
I want to be an all round entertainer, I want to act, make films, make albums, do whatever I can.
My first job is to write the characters as full and authentic people as well as I can.
There are so few shows that are willing to take risks with their characters in the way that 'Homeland' does. And yet, the audience still comes back and loves those characters.
I'm a virtuoso in my job in that there's not an actor I can't go into a scene with and be absolutely confident that, whatever is required of my character, I can do it.
Whatever I will become will be what God has chosen for me.
I ultimately have faith though, that good films will find their audience.
I think they will feel refreshed because I cater to a mature audience.
