One time my mom tried to ground me, but that lasted 15 minutes.
I'm obsessed with being on time. If you say, 'Let's meet up at 10 A.M.,' I will be there 15 minutes early. Always.
When I write a song, it's all about the riff - the riff first, then the words come later.
When something is bothering me, I write a song that tells my feelings.
When I write songs, when I sing songs, I don't have anybody in mind. I'm just trying to express what I think people are feeling.
I write a lot of my music, but not all of it. I have always subscribed to the 'best song wins' theory when making an album.
I dream crazy vivid dreams. Like, entire movies. And sometimes I write songs about them.
I spend a lot of time outlining before I write the first word.
I write when I have to; I write when the song is done and I deal with the idea and I just go with it and I'll become what that song is all about until I have finished it. And when you do that, it makes the song more visual, it makes it more personal.
