The way I write my shows, every character is its own organic thing. No character has a life at all until I see it played by somebody.
I start with a character and a situation, but I don't know what's going to happen until I write it. Sometimes things happen that surprise me.
When I present or speak, I write the slides myself. And regarding time, I would like to be able to publish more than I do.
I will always be an actress. I couldn't see myself without acting. But I'd love to direct and keep writing. I don't think one has to be in place of the other.
I probably read 100 times more than I write, but that way when I move my characters through it, I know.
If I like the story and it's well written, and it's a character I want to play and they'll pay me, then I decide to do it.
I knew at the time that that wasn't the part I would be doing, they just wanted a screentest so they could have a look at it to show to the directors and producers. Then they wrote a part for me or maybe they already had it in mind, I don't know.
I write to keep from going mad from the contradictions I find among mankind - and to work some of those contradictions out for myself.
I'm not a good writer. It takes me a long time to get there. I write and then rewrite and revise and do it over and over until I'm satisfied.
