I tend to personally judge issue by issue rather than sort of endorsing this football-team mentality that we fall into in this country, where it's all about the team.
We all fall in love with someone for the person they are - not because of their race, their hair, or any of the frivolous things that go away in time.
Every time I'd get a critique or some redirection, I'd always just take it very personally. Now I have no problem with it.
You can't let players do what they wish and be professional. That's a fact. As for the team, Boro had two internationals when I got there in 1995. Now they have more than 15. And they didn't cost the fortune some suggest.
People who see no gray tend to convince others to follow them. If someone talks with great conviction and joy, people tend to agree with them.
Personally, when things upset me, I get quiet and closed off. I have nothing to say, and a chill sets in while I think about what's going on.
I'd like to think that I'm brave. That's a really wonderful personality trait to have. I would love to think I'm the type of person to go rescue someone.
Once a food becomes off-limits, then it takes on this whole other personality. 'Forbidden' is more tempting. And it becomes something evil, but food is food. It's there to nourish your body.
Personally, I don't go and seek contact with fans, but if they happen to find me somewhere I'll say hello and speak to them for a while.
