The south is very focused on family... the musical heritage of Muscle Shoals especially and the bands from the region.
My mother was a singer, and both of her sisters were singers. There was always music around.
You must remember I grew up around music. Three of my family were musicians.
I bought a house in LA, hanging out there and spending a lot of time in Toronto, but not much.
My mother wanted very much to play tennis; she wanted, most of all, to be a singer and play the piano.
I have been singing gospel music since I was four years old.
I like to play music, and I like to be funny, so I just do both at the same time.
What I truly miss the most is having sufficient time to do all the things that need to be done around the house and for our friends.
When there is a voice in a piece of music, we tend to focus on the voice. That is probably something from when we were babies and we depended on hearing our mother's voice.
