About all you can do in life is be who you are. Some people will love you for you. Most will love you for what you can do for them, and some won't like you at all.
People can love you, or they can hate you. It really doesn't matter.
The people who loved me when I was seven years old love my books, and the people who didn't like me when I was seven years old don't like my books.
But surely for everything you have to love you have to pay some price.
I often try to tell kids to think about all the people who love you, don't cry over the one person who doesn't.
If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
This is what I love about people! You meet people outside of the business, they'll tell you the truth.
You don't only worry about the people who hate or resent you; in a way, you're more worried about the people who love you.
It is so weird to be on this side of that, because when you're starting out, and it seems like you're starting out for so long, you look up to the people who have made their mark. And you sort of want to be that.
