It is very grand and sumptuous and awesome to look at but it was really about the characters for me.
I spent a lot of time quasi-fascinated with characters who were super-dumb and super-cocky. I always liked that combination.
I don't even like to show midriff - it's my characters who are always showing midriff.
People like the comedy more when they care about the characters.
I try to ground most of my characters in reality somehow. That's kind of what I bring to the table.
What always leads me in terms of my movies are characters.
My characters always like themselves.
I loved my role on Who's the Boss? There is always some of me in every character that I play.
People with courage and character always seem sinister to the rest.
