In every film, whether it's a fictional character or not, you create an idea of the character and for me I always do a bad impersonation to start with.
Your emotional life is not written in cement during childhood. You write each chapter as you go along.
One of my favorite things - and I am sure everybody else's in this Chamber - is to give away money. You really don't get much opposition when you give away money.
You have to be involved and relate to the characters in order to make a film that is true emotionally.

For a book to function... it has to be a functioning reality. The character has to be real, and I imagine that's exactly what happens for a spy who is in deep cover.
