I'm not going to do the Ben Harper house record or the Ben Harper drum 'n' bass record.
Being a songwriter is really the base of being an artist, for me.
I knew I wanted to be a writer at 13. Before that, I told everyone I was going to be an artist.
I like the idea of the artist going out in the world, creating a dialogue.
I find beauty in the grotesque, like most artists.
I'm always going to do that - record and make music.
The best artists are gone now.
Some cats, Iggy Pop, they're going to always have that hunger.
I was a huge Radiohead fan growing up.
