We cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves.
I wander around, get the lay of the land and try to imagine what kind of people would have lived there in that historical period. What would they eat? What kind of clothing would they wear? How did they shelter themselves? How did they get around?
Great artists are people who find the way to be themselves in their art. Any sort of pretension induces mediocrity in art and life alike.

Perhaps gaining power doesn't cause people to act like takers. It simply creates the opportunity for people who think like takers to express themselves.
I say to people who care for people who are dying, if you really love that person and want to help them, be with them when their end comes close. Sit with them - you don't even have to talk. You don't have to do anything but really be there with them.
I'm one of those people who was taught not to ruffle any feathers. Of course, I have no problem ruffling feathers.
Perhaps it is because cats do not live by human patterns, do not fit themselves into prescribed behavior, that they are so united to creative people.
