But most distinctly, I remember always saying to myself that when I get big, I'm not going to go to bed hungry, I'm not going to wear hand-me-down clothes.
As a child, I remember I always wanted to make my parents happy and give them everything in their lives.
I remember thinking, 'I don't know if I can do radio.' I never even listen to it.
I was 7, and I remember being given a part in a play and thinking, This is exciting.
I remember reminding myself that beauty is an opinion, not a fact. And it has always made me feel better.
I think everyone has their awkward phases. Growing up isn't easy for everyone. I definitely had my awkward moments.
I've always been in the theater. I've always gone to it. That's been my way to cope. Early on in my career, I remember running - fleeing - to the theater as a way of coping with all the meshugaas that was going on for me.
When I got a part in 'All American Girl,' in 1994, I remember thinking, 'Now I have a series, I'm not going to need to do standup,' but every night I'd go out afterward and get onstage somewhere.
