My whole family actually, but my parents. I had such a normal and amazing childhood. I've been so lucky. My parents are cool and normal. They don't talk about the business and I still have stuff to do at their house.
But you know, I still had a dream of being able to go back home and tour.
I've always been dabbling in suits, but like a lot of people in the neighborhoods I grew up in, I had my snapback; I had my v-neck. I still got them in the closet. I got my J's, my Forces; it was standard.
It's amazing that people still feel, 'Oh my gosh, it's a black guy.' We've been here for a long time; let's get used to it. Let's get used to other cultures.
My whole plan in my head has always been, if I go a year without acting, it's time to go home; it's time to go back to Montreal.
I had a very unusual childhood in that I grew up on the Stanford campus and I never moved.
I'm actually graduating early. I got a lot of work done already. Being home schooled, I have had a lot of tutors help me.
I had a very outdoorsy childhood. I was athletic and used to ride and do dressage. I could ride almost before I could walk. There is a picture of me at 18 months old sitting happily on the back of a donkey.
I grew up in a Christian home with amazing parents.
