In my own writing, I avoid 'female' and try to say 'woman' because I feel that the word 'female' has connotations of not just biology but also non-human mammals. The idea of 'female' to me is more appropriate for a female animal.

In meinem eigenen Schreiben vermeide ich „weiblich“ und versuche, „Frau“ zu sagen, weil ich das Gefühl habe, dass das Wort „weiblich“ nicht nur Biologie, sondern auch nicht-menschliche Säugetiere beinhaltet. Die Vorstellung von "weiblich" ist für mich eher für ein weibliches Tier geeignet.
